  • Marilee is an experienced non-diet and size-inclusive dietitian supporting clients who want to stop dieting, reduce stress around eating and/or get help with disordered eating and eating disorders. She has over 5 years of clinical expertise in specialized eating disorder care and has a special interest in supporting folks with ADHD or postnatal.

    Approach

    Marilee supports clients to make peace with food and their bodies through a non-judgmental and light-hearted approach to nutrition. She practices from a trauma-informed, body-affirming and anti-oppressive lens and is aligned with Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating in her philosophy. Marilee provides empathetic nutrition care to create safety and validation in your personal story.

    Services

    Marilee provides 1:1 nutrition therapy for folks of all ages who have complicated relationships with food or their bodies. This may include:

    • nutrition assessment and counselling
    • mechanical eating plans and relapse prevention
    • virtual and in person meal support
    • food skills such as meal planning and grocery shopping
    • correct symptoms associated with malnutrition
    • assistance with food sensory or processing differences, food fears and aversions from a responsive feeding and neurodiversity-affirming approach

    Marilee is a consultant for eating disorder care across the province and works in collaboration with medical and mental health clinicians. She liaises with eating disorder services to transfer care whenever appropriate.

    Areas of Practice:

    Youth and Adult Eating Disorders:

    • Binge Eating, Anorexia, Bulimia, ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), OSFED and sub-clinical disordered eating.
    • Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy, CBT/DBT/EFFT and Family Based Treatment (FBT)-informed nutrition care

    Disordered Eating, Body Image & Exercise Support:

    • Improve your relationship with food and body image, normalize eating behaviours, learn to eat without food fears, guilt or stress
    • Get support with compulsive/ problematic exercise or avoidant-relationship with exercise, incorporate accessible joyful movement
    • Non diet/size inclusive approach for sport and athletes

    Intuitive Eating:

    • Explore intuitive eating principles to restore natural hunger and fullness cues, reclaim body trust, practice body respect, and integrate joyful movement
    • Practice gentle nutrition to improve your relationship with food

    Size Inclusive & Non-Diet Management of Health Conditions:

    • Manage health conditions from a health at every size lens eg. celiac disease, digestive issues, neurodivergence (ADHD, ASD, AuDHD), PCOS
    • Decrease vulnerability to disordered eating and body image distress

    Size-Inclusive Prenatal or Postpartum Nutrition:  

    • Nurture a healthy relationship with food for yourself and your baby
    • Uncouple weight from your prenatal care
    • Decrease vulnerability to disordered eating and body image distress

Credentials and Experience

BSc, RD

- Graduate of The University of British Columbia with degree in Dietetics
- Completion of dietetic internship with Island Health
- Registrant with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia
- Years experience as inpatient/outpatient eating disorder dietitian and specialized outpatient eating disorder program dietitian
- Group facilitator: virtual meal support, readiness, nutrition for recovery, intuitive eating
- Certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor - in progress
