Emma graduated from the University of Guelph with an honours degree in Applied Human Nutrition and then completed her dietetic internship and practicum training with Nova Scotia Health in both adult and pediatric nutrition. During her internship, Emma gained valuable clinical experience during her rotations at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in medicine, surgery, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), eating disorders outpatient day program, diabetes, and oncology. At the IWK Children’s Hospital, she had rotations in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), pediatric medical unit, neurology and outpatient clinics including neurodevelopment, diabetes, and general pediatrics.
Upon completing her internship, Emma returned home to British Columbia and is working for Vancouver Coastal Health in child & youth outpatient eating disorders and clinical acute care. As well, she has experience being a preceptor to UBC students in the Nutrition and Dietetics program.
Through her clinical experience, Emma has witnessed first-hand how nutritional interventions can improve health outcomes and change lives. Emma’s goal is to help you take small steps that will make big differences in your life. Through a weight-inclusive, compassionate, evidence-based approach, Emma ensures clients feel heard and respected in their counselling sessions. She will always take time to connect, build trust, and truly understand each person’s individual needs.
Emma has a diverse and well-rounded clinical experience, with her greatest passion being working with individuals who have eating disorders/disordered eating. She is honoured to be a pillar of support for you in your journey to wellness and on your road to recovery.
