  • Marilee is an experienced non-diet and size-inclusive dietitian supporting clients to have a better relationship with food and their bodies. She has 8 years of clinical expertise in specialized eating disorder care and has a special interest in supporting folks with ADHD. She also has lived experience as a late-identified ADHD’er and is in recovery from an eating disorder.

    Approach

    Marilee supports clients to make peace with food and their bodies through a non-judgmental and light-hearted approach to nutrition. She practices from a trauma-informed, gender-affirming, neurodivergent-affirming and anti-oppressive lens. Marilee is aligned with Health at Every Size and Intuitive Eating in her philosophy. She provides empathetic nutrition care to create safety and validation in your personal story. Marilee supports harm reduction and respects body autonomy.

    Services

    Marilee provides 1:1 nutrition therapy for folks of all ages who have complicated relationships with food or their bodies.

    This may include:

    • nutrition assessment and counselling
    • mechanical eating plans and relapse prevention
    • virtual and in person meal support
    • food skills such as meal planning and grocery shopping
    • correcting symptoms associated with malnutrition
    • assistance with food sensory or processing differences, executive dysfunction, food fears and aversions from a responsive feeding and neurodiversity-affirming approach

    Marilee is a consultant for eating disorder care across the province and works in collaboration with medical and mental health clinicians. She liaises with eating disorder services to transfer care whenever appropriate.

    Areas of Practice:

    Youth and Adult Eating Disorders:

    • Binge Eating, Anorexia, Bulimia, ARFID (Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder), OSFED and sub-clinical disordered eating.
    • Provide strengths-based Medical Nutrition Therapy, CBT/DBT/EFFT/ACT and Family Based Treatment (FBT)-informed nutrition care
    • Meal support coaching
    • Eating disorder nutrition for athletes
    • Adapt ED treatment for harm reduction, quality of life and neurodivergent-affirming care
    • Supervision for eating disorders practitioners

     

    Neurodivergent-Affirming Nutrition Support:

    • Explore intersections of neurodivergence and risk of disordered eating and eating disorders
    • Increase confidence with food skills and self feeding without shame or judgment
    • Integrate accommodations and low barrier accessible foods
    • Get support during a burnout and gain skills to help transition out
    • Navigate sensory processing differences and interoceptive awareness
    • Body doubling
    • Experienced with restrictive and food seeking eating patterns, PDA, OCD, ARFID, and other eating disorders presentations associated with ND

    Disordered Eating, Body Image & Exercise Support:

    • Improve relationship with food and body image, normalize eating behaviours, learn to eat without food fears, guilt or stress
    • Get support with compulsive/ problematic exercise or avoidant-relationship with exercise, incorporate accessible joyful movement
    • Non diet/size inclusive approach for sport and athletes; integration of Safe Exercise

    Intuitive Eating:

    • Explore intuitive eating principles to restore natural hunger and fullness cues, reclaim body trust, practice body respect, and integrate joyful movement
    • Practice gentle nutrition to improve your relationship with food
    • Adapt intuitive eating to be neurodivergent-affirming and for eating disorders

    Size Inclusive & Non-Diet Management of Health Conditions:

    • Manage health conditions from a health at every size lens eg. celiac disease, digestive issues, PCOS
    • Decrease vulnerability to disordered eating and body image distress

    Size-Inclusive Prenatal or Postpartum Nutrition:  

    • Nurture a healthy relationship with food for yourself and your baby
    • Uncouple weight from your prenatal care
    • Decrease vulnerability to disordered eating and body image distress
