About

Diabetes nutrition recommendations continue to evolve, making it challenging to know what matters most in day-to-day practice. This practical, evidence-based webinar will help you cut through the noise and translate current research into meaningful results. Through real-world case studies, you'll learn how to interpret blood glucose patterns, prioritize nutrition interventions based on specific glycemic concerns, and recognize when factors beyond nutrition such as medications, sleep, stress, physical activity, or interprofessional care should take priority. Leave with practical strategies you can confidently apply in your next diabetes consultation.

In this 1.5 hour workshop, we will cover:

1) Summarize the evidence supporting common nutrition recommendations for diabetes, including carbohydrate quality, carbohydrate distribution, meal patterns, fibre, protein, and culturally responsive & culturally safe nutrition counselling.

2) Differentiate nutrition priorities for elevated fasting blood glucose, elevated postprandial blood glucose, and overall elevated A1c.

3) Use blood glucose monitoring or CGM patterns to guide practical, individualized nutrition interventions.

4) Apply case-based reasoning to translate evidence into achievable patient-centred recommendations.

5) Identify when nutrition changes may not be the primary focus, or when nutrition changes may be insufficient alone and when medication, sleep, stress, physical activity, or interprofessional follow-up should be considered.
