When Healthcare Professionals Collaborate For Better Patient Outcomes

We had the pleasure of welcoming members of Vancouver’s private practice community to our first-ever Health Care Professional (HCP) Holiday Mixer.

This evening brought together professionals from 11 different disciplines, including registered dietitians, nurses, counsellors, physiotherapists, physicians, naturopaths, TCM doctors, vets and more!

We were so thankful to host our event at Vancouver’s newest teaching kitchen space, The Skript Kitchen, where guests gathered to network, share ideas, eat delicious food, and enjoy holiday activities.

Attendees also had the chance to tour the kitchen’s spaces and snap fun photos at a nutrition-inspired photobooth!

Why Interprofessional Collaboration Matters

Private practice can often feel isolating, with limited opportunities to connect and collaborate with other professionals – especially many of us work 100% remotely.

With this all in mind, we designed the mixer to create a space for HCP’s to meet one another, learn about each other’s work and expertise, and develop mutual understanding across disciplines. These connections will help us better support our clients, whether it’s making appropriate referrals or collaborating on care.

We want to keep fostering the connections between health care professionals, so we invite you to stay connected through our exclusive network group for Health Professionals

Bringing Health Professionals Together through Food

Food plays a main role in bringing people together, and our HCP Holiday Mixer was no exception.

We are so grateful to The Skript Kitchen team for putting together a dinner that was not only delicious, but also 100% vegetarian and gluten-free to accommodate our attendee’s dietary needs.

We connected throughout the evening over a spread of charcuterie, crispy tofu, mini sandwiches, a variety of sweet treats, and much more.

Thanks to the unique functioning teaching space, guests also took part in hands-on holiday activities.

From cozy soup mixes, to allergen-free granola, to gluten-free cookie jars, attendees were able to create homemade gift jars to enjoy themselves or to share with someone else.

Thank You to Our Event Sponsors

This evening would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, who share our belief in collaboration and community care:

  1. Optibac – A research-backed probiotic brand offering products for a wide range of populations and health needs! They provided us with samples of their baby drops and S. Boulardii Probiotics.

  1. Half Your Plate – An educational program focused on educating Canadians about the importance of fruits and vegetables for health. They provided hot and cold packs, along with practical resources for health professionals. Attendees were also encouraged to explore and join their professional network as a way to stay connected with their initiative and resources.

  1. Silver Hills Bakery – An Abbotsford-based company known for their delicious bread products, both traditional and gluten-free. They generously provided three products for our attendees to enjoy:
  • Little Northern Bakehouse Blueberry Bagels (gluten-free)
  • Grain Escape Bread (grain-free, gluten-free, low FODMAP)
  • Silver Hills Sprouted Breads (sprouted grain)

  1. Contrast Collective – The website design studio behind BC Dietitian’s homepage. Connect with them on Instagram if you need any branding or website help!
