Our team will match you with a local dietitian that is best suited to your nutrition goals and schedule.
Step 3
We will confirm your nutrition assessment within 1-2 business days. You will meet your registered dietitian via our secured video platform.
✔️ Have finished at least a 5-year bachelor’s or master’s degree in dietetics and nutrition
✔️ Undergo supervised practical training in various setting including hospital, universities, clinics, research labs, government agencies (a practicum of 9-12 months’ full time work)
✔️ Are required by law to register with a provincial regulatory body—in BC, that’s the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC)
✔️ Participate in continuing education and professional development mandated by the college
✔️ Blend ongoing professional training, clinical experience, and scientific evidence to create tailored food and nutrition plans
❌ Trained on vast data and information available — can also be misguided, as not all information is vetted by registered dietitians, etc.
❌ Depending on the dataset, you can get extremely biased “advice”
❌ Do not have the human context of your background, lifestyle, and habits
❌ No moral/ethics to guide their suggestion
We specialize in sports nutrition so here are a handful of people work with:
Private practice dietitians are not covered by MSP. However, many extended health benefit plans and insurance providers will cover a portion or all of the services provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD).
Please confirm with your plan provider your maximum yearly and visit allowance.
Furthermore, registered dietitians are authorized medical practitioners recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency.
If you pay out of pocket for your dietitian services, you can claim these expenses as medical expense for tax credit purposes.
A doctor’s referral is not necessary to book in with a BC Dietitian. While a referral is not needed to start your journey with us, we do appreciate connecting with your healthcare provider to coordinate care and provide a holistic and comprehensive care plan.
Our private dietitian services cost $190 per session (tax exempt).
Many extended health benefits will cover dietitian services so we may be able to direct bill or you can get your expenses reimbursed.
